Honor A Veteran Wendy
Nelson Lieutenant 25th Infantry Division United States Army, Iraq Hometown: Duluth, Minnesota Wendy Nelson has always been an overachiever. She was her high school class valedictorian, the girl voted most likely to succeed, and an honor roll student. She breezed through college in only three years, and worked summers as a lifeguard to help pay the way. One summer she saved a little girl who was drowning, pulling her out of the water and giving her CPR until medical help arrived. When she graduated from college, Wendy enlisted in the Army and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant. Wendy served in Iraq, and before rotating back for her second tour of duty, she used her 30 day leave building houses for Habitat for Humanity with her family’s church, and volunteering at a V.A. nursing home, helping vets by taking them to medical appointments, reading to them, and whatever else she could do to make their lives easier. At age 23, Wendy Nelson is already an American hero!
