Arthur Biliseck

Arthur Biliseck joined the Navy a few months before the attack on Pearl Harbor, and was trained in San Diego before shipping out to the South Pacific. He was assigned to the USS Long Island, an escort aircraft carrier.

Arthur took part in the Battle of Guadalcanal, and returned with his ship to San Diego in September, 1942. For a year the Long Island trained pilots in aircraft carrier operations, and then she was assigned duty transporting aircraft and crews to duty stations in the Pacific.

After leaving the Navy in 1945, Arthur began a career in the radio business, working as a technician and engineer for radio stations along the West Coast. He married, had a family, and retired in 1980. He passed away due to complications following heart surgery in 1985.
